TURKEY CRIMINALISES THE KURDS!

TURKEY GASSES THE KURDS!

A person outside the building, a 70-year-old Kurdish man who declined to give his name, said he has come for every hearing. “I am here because this case is against my language, identity and culture. This is a political case, it has nothing to do with the law,” he said.

Turkey’s ‘Treason Trial’ of the Kurdish People began again yesterday.

Tens of thousands of Kurdish people rallied to outside the court house in Diyarbakir and hundreds of thousands more around Kurdistan protested by demonstrations and shutting of shops.

This trial is the test by which Turkey will be judged. By the Kurdish people and by the International Community.

Organisers were rounded up after the Kurdish party won a historic victory in the last election. (picture right)

Completely innocent people of any crime who have been detained as part of an attempt to criminalise the legitimate struggle of the Kurds for basic human and political rights in Turkey.

This trial is a trial not against the people that have been incarcerated but against the Kurdish people as a whole.

Does the Turkish State really want to solve the Kurdish Question or does it wish to continue to criminalise legitimate demands for Kurdish rights?

If yesterday was anything to go by the outlook is not good.

Thousands of people who gathered outside the court, children, elderly people and relatives of those inside were gassed by the Turkish State.

GASSED BY THE TURKISH STATE!

What is that if not a message of contempt and hatred!

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TRIAL POLITICALLY FOR TURKEY. IT IS THE EQUIVALENT OF NELSON MANDELA’S TREASON TRIAL IN SOUTH AFRICA DURING THE APARTHEID YEARS.

Many people were hoping for a more positive attitude from the State but many now will be fearful of a full scale civil war in Turkey!
