Speaking at the press conference held during the “civil disobedience” action in Diyarbakır by BDP and DTK in front of Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality for a solution to the Kurdish problem BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş recapitulated the demands, adding that the people have initiated the Democratic resistance process. “We asked them to let us face with politicians against our extremely justified, legitimate political demands but in Batman they made us face only with action forces”.

Demirtaş remarked that the party members are tried to be prevented from taking part in the elections, saying the followings; “It has been exposed that the biggest obstacle in front of democracy is the AKP mentality. I am asking the Prime Minister, what has the education in mother tongue have to do with police? This issue is not a matter of security and public order.

The Kurdish issue is a political problem. Demirtaş, indicating that they will not take a single step back until the government takes a step in line with the demands, said; “We condemn the tactless attitude in Batman against the public and our parliamentary colleagues. We are not going to bend the knee Before the cruelty this government deems us worthy of”.

Demirtas added that “the Prime Minister who sends greetings to the Tahrir Square is sending panzer and gas bomb to us. The Prime Minister may know that this people are standing with the spirit of Tahrir. You, however, tried to provoke with your incitation. You tried to make this in Şırnak, Silopi, Batman and Nusaybin. Do not close these areas to the people as only cruel governments do that.

The first action took place here yesterday. The barricades have been passed over with your spirit of resistance and now we are sitting hand in hand, arm in arm. We will continue our acts until we get a result”.

Demirtaş added that they will keep expressing the people’s democratic demands with a march to Newala Qesaba/Siirt on March 28th to draw attention to the mass graves and another march to PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s birthplace Amara Village of Halfeti/Urfa on April 4th, Ocalan’s birthday. Demirtaş added; “We will increasingly continue to be on the areas with the slogan either freedom or freedom”.

Asking back for the tent which was put up in front of the guesthouse but seized and removed by police the day before, Demirtaş said; We want back our internee tent. That tent will stand here. “Democratic solution tents” are the places where democratic demands are voiced. To hinder the tents is to plug the democratic channels. As the BDP and the DTK, we are going to keep our struggle going until we obtain a result”.
